Being able to make your coworkers and clients comfortable talking to you is invaluable, but managing to become a \u201cpeople person\u201d is much easier said than done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are hundreds (if not thousands) of books and courses that claim to be able to make people more personable, and some of the advice is more valuable than others. However, there are a few tried-and-true methods to come off as more affable. Here are some examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Open Up your Body Language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s common for people to think that they\u2019re the only ones who are nervous about how they come off to others, but the truth is that no one wants to be a bother. If you\u2019re conveying with your body language that you aren\u2019t interested in talking, people may avoid you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can become much more approachable by simply opening up your body language. Avoid crossing your arms in front of you and stand up straight. It sounds a little silly, but this \u201copen\u201d body posture makes you seem much more\u2026 well\u2026 <em>open<\/em> to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stay Focused<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nobody likes being ignored\u2014it makes them feel boring, or like they aren\u2019t all that important to you. For that reason, becoming a good listener is critical to making yourself appear more personable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While remaining focused on every word someone says may be a little bit of a challenge to pull off consistently, even just consciously making an effort to engage with what other people are saying may help. You should also consider whether you use your phone too much while others are talking, and how that may appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Greet People With a Smile!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Smiling constantly while talking to someone may feel a little bit unnatural, but that\u2019s okay\u2014forcing it may <em>look<\/em> a little unnatural as well. You don\u2019t have to plaster a grin on your face every moment you talk to someone, but a well-timed smile when meeting someone for the first time makes you seem warm and inviting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find that you don\u2019t have much confidence in your smile, you might want to ask your dentist about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mydentistgrandprairie.com\/cosmetic-dentistry.html\">cosmetic dentistry<\/a>.
